Dear Martha,
I was at Barwick yesterday looking at the Cottages there will be a heavy bill at Christmas – the wall of No 6 or 7 fell into Brooks Yard last winter + had to be rebuilt or the roof would have gone too – The Roofs of the whole were pointed up at the same time – R. Walker has gone. I gave him notice + he could not get another house in Barwick no body would let him one – I issued a warrant to seize his goods but he had none to seize – he frightened him out of 10/– + the remainder will be lost – He has gone near Kippax. Mary Monk is another awkward tenant – she promises to pay next Rent time – but I doubt it – I was like putting a stick into a wasps nest going in there – Mrs Fowler says that
